Moberly Regional Medical Center Nurse Jacqueline Emerson Receives National Award for Nursing Excellence
7/1/2025
Jacqueline Emerson, a licensed practical nurse at Chariton Valley Family Medicine - a part of Moberly Regional Medical Center, for nearly 13 years, has received a national 2025 Nursing Excellence Award.
Emerson is one of ten national winners selected across all hospitals affiliated with Community Health Systems, one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers. Developing operating healthcare delivery systems in 36 distinct markets across 14 states, the organization’s affiliates include Moberly Regional Medical Center and 69 other hospitals.
Emerson was surprised with the recognition at a presentation with hospital leadership at the Chariton Valley Family Medicine clinic in Salisbury, Mo., where she was presented with a crystal plaque, a cash award, and other gifts.
“Jacqueline demonstrates care and compassion through her daily activities at work,” Lindy Breshears, family nurse practitioner at Chariton Valley Family Medicine, stated in the nomination form. “She works diligently to get them scheduled for diagnostic testing that fits into their schedules. She spends time talking to patients about their daily lives as she can easily connect with them on a personal level as well. Patients know Jacqueline and they love her. They call the clinic asking for Jacqueline specifically.”
The Nursing Excellence Award program was created in 2020 with the celebration of the “Year of the Nurse” as a means to recognize the tremendous effort and sacrifice made by nurses during the COVID pandemic. This is the fifth occasion for the peer-nominated award recognizing the vital work nurses play in the collective purpose to help people get well and live healthier. Characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence include outstanding care, compassion, service and innovation, and reflect the efforts of someone who is a demonstrated team player and/or mentor to others, is a leader in times of crises, and who regularly promotes health in the community.
“Jacqueline demonstrates her ability to be a team player as she has stepped into several roles when needed under her scope of practice,” Breshears stated in the nomination form. “She will complete tasks for the front staff, complete tasks for other nurses, and fill in for staff in other clinics. She is a great mentor for other nurses as she has a strong work ethic with safe and efficient practices.”
Emerson joined Moberly Regional Medical Center in July 2012. Prior to joining Chariton Valley Family Medicine clinic in 2014, Emerson was a pediatric nurse and cardiology nurse in other Moberly Regional Medical Center-affiliated clinics. During her tenure, she has worked to promote health in the community through outreach activities, including the arranging of “Community Helper’s Day” with a local preschool. Additionally, she was named clinical employee of the quarter in 2023.
