Moberly Regional Medical Center Marks 45 Years of Service to the Community
5/4/2026
Moberly Regional Medical Center will celebrate its 45th anniversary during National Hospital Week 2026. From its opening on May 10, 1981, MRMC has established a reputation for quality care. The hospital provides a wide range of services to more than 85,000 patients annually from Moberly and North Central Missouri, including 12,000 visits to the MRMC emergency room.
“It’s amazing to realize all of the advancements and accomplishments that have taken place over the past four decades,” said MRMC Chief Executive Officer Ben Hughes. "Our theme is ‘45 years of people caring for people and focusing on the future,’ and that couldn’t be more true. It's inspiring to see how many employees, physicians, nurses, and volunteers have been dedicated to caring for the people in the communities we are so proud to serve.”
While celebrating the past, MRMC administration continues to focus on the future by enhancing the level of care provided. With the recent addition of interventional cardiologist Prassana Sengodan, M.D., to the Moberly Regional medical staff, cardiology services have been expanded. Two surgeons trained in robotic-assisted surgery provide minimally-invasive procedures for treating gallbladder, appendectomy, hernia, hysterectomy and more. Additionally, Han Su, FNP, will join the Moberly Rural Health Clinic primary care providers in May.
Today MRMC is a 99-bed facility with over 400 health professionals. MRMC houses a heart & vein center, senior behavioral health unit, wound center, wellness center, laboratory and imaging center, and more.
MRMC is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, is designated as a Level 3 Stroke Center by the Missouri Time Critical Diagnosis System, and earned a 3-Star CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) Quality Star Rating.
The original design for patient care and comfort has expanded into a medical campus that includes Moberly Rural Health Clinic, MRMC Therapy and Wellness and Chariton Valley Family Medicine in Salisbury. Connected to MRMC in the Professional Arts Building is Moberly Heart and Vascular and Moberly Specialty Group, which offers services for general surgery, women’s health and urogynecology.
MRMC’s impact on the region goes well beyond the walls of the hospital. In 2025, MRMC contributed nearly $45 million to the region through charity and uncompensated care provided, capital dollars reinvested in services and facilities, employee payroll, charitable projects and payment of approximately $3 million in taxes to support local schools and civic resources.
