Moberly Regional Medical Center has Broad Impact on Moberly and Surrounding Communities

MOBERLY, Mo., March 25, 2022 – Over the course of a year, the impact of Moberly Regional Medical Center adds up as the skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members deliver safe, quality care around the clock every day. Beyond clinical care, the hospital and affiliated clinics are major employers and regularly invest resources to expand and enhance the services available locally. The overall community benefit each year is significant and totaled more than $39 million in 2021.
Last year, the hospital and clinics delivered care at more than 109,000 patient visits as the pandemic heightened the need for medical care. The hospital has supported more than 275 COVID inpatients since March 2020 while sustaining all of its other medical services. To help protect the community from the COVID-19 virus, MRMC employees joined local health agencies to provide vaccination education efforts and host and participate in community vaccination clinics throughout Randolph County and the surrounding areas. Additionally, more than 150 outpatients were treated with monoclonal antibodies, helping them avoid serious symptoms and hospitalization.
“The MRMC team provided quality care for not only COVID patients, but also for other members of our region who had a broad range of medical needs,” said Brent Parsons, chief executive officer for MRMC. “We are fortunate to have this resilient and committed team of clinicians and caregivers here in Moberly and the surrounding communities who make a difference for patients every day. Whether it was patients leaving with less pain after a surgery, with a stronger heart, or a smile of relief after a clear mammogram or colonoscopy, we helped so many get well and live healthier.”
Employees and medical staff brought their skills and compassion to support more than 10,700 emergency department visits, more than 1,200 inpatients and perform more than 1,600 surgeries. More than 96,000 patients received care across the hospital and affiliated clinics.
MRMC continues to grow and evolve as resources are directed toward increased medical services, facilities and technologies that are important to patients. These include upgrading the robotic surgical system for minimally invasive surgeries that support faster recovery from hysterectomy, hernia, gallbladder and other procedures. Now offering 3D mammography exams, MRMC provides an additional tool for breast cancer screening. Additionally, implementation of telecardiology and teleneurology potentially changes the way cardiac and neurological care is delivered by allowing faster response times for strokes, heart attacks and more.
As MRMC works to continuously meet patients’ needs, it also gives back to the broader Moberly region. MRMC provided more than $8.5 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the $5.6 million paid in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $22.7 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services. The hospital also made capital improvements totaling more than $2.1 million to upgrade equipment in the operating room, enhance safety features, and install new radiology equipment.
“We are proud to be a part of this community, and we will continue to do all we can to provide excellent healthcare services and to make Moberly and the surrounding communities a healthier, better region for all,” Parsons said.
