What is a Hospitalist?
A Hospitalist is an internal medicine physician dedicated to your care while you stay at Moberly Regional. Unlike most doctors, they do not have a clinic of their own where they see their own patients, they only see those patients hospitalized at MRMC. They watch over your case, and keep in consistent contact with your primary care doctor throughout your stay. Our hospitalists are here for you at this critical time in your life.
The Advantages of Hospitalists
Often your referring physician cannot be at your bedside 24/7 where as a hospitalist is always seeing patients at MRMC. According to MedicineNet.com, “one advantage is that hospitalists' have more expertise in caring for complicated hospitalized patients on a daily basis.” Also hospitalists tend to reduce the length of your stay at the hospital, according to the National Institute of Health Library Archive.
How do Hospitalists Work with my Physician?
During your stay, your hospitalist works with your primary care physician. When your admitted to the hospital, your doctor provides information about your medical history and the hosptialist drafts a detailed report of findings and treatment plans for your doctor. Your primary care doctor will take over your care after you leave the hospital.
